The purpose of this job is to maintain facility security and provide inmate safety at the Clarke County Correctional Institution. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing for inmate security, assisting in organizing activities, ensuring gates, doors and rooms are locked, transporting inmates and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualified applicants must possess the following:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid driver's license.
One year of correctional officer or related experience preferred. Must pass P. O. S. T. Certification within six months of hire date. See the job description for further details.
This position is a safety sensitive position; therefore, it will be included in the random drug testing as referred to in the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance. This merit system position requires that the employee satisfactorily completes a probationary period.
WORK SCHEDULE: Rotating shift schedule
SALARY: $32,919 Annual Entry Rate* (See Below) PAY GRADE: 13
Listed below are additional qualifications that may entitle you to additional increase in salary to the annual entry rate. The maximum increase of these incentives is $2,400:
· 2 years of active duty military service - $600
· 3 years of active duty military service - $900
· 4 years of active duty military service - $1,200
· Possess the Georgia Basic Correctional Officer Certification prior to employment - $1,200
· Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Degree from an accredited college/technical school or 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours - $1,200
· College Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college/university - $2,400
