The Leisure Services Department operates six day camps: East Athens, Lay Park, Sandy Creek, Memorial Park, Teens in Action and Enrichment Camps (Parkview, Broadacres and Rocksprings). Camps will actually begin on June 2. The earlier date is shown to indicate pre-planning and training time. All camps run for eight consecutive weeks with the exception of Sandy Creek and Teens in Action. Sandy Creek begins employee training on May 27 and day camp begins June 2. Day Camp operational hours vary from camp to camp, most will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. daily.

  • Memorial, Rocksprings, East Athens and Lay Park pools operate Tues.-Fri., 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Bishop Park pool is open to the public Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Sunday, 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. All pools open for the season on June 5. Some pool staff may be required to report as early as 9:00 a.m. for programming assistance on assigned days. All pools are closed on Mondays. Pools will operate weekends only beginning late May, early June and August 4 through Sept. 4.

  • In order to be eligible for an Assistant Pool Manager or Lifeguard position, applicant must possess current valid Basic Lifesaving, CPR and First Aid certificates.
