Police Officer

Qualified applicants must possess:
- High school diploma or equivalent 3. Valid Driver’s License
- 21 years of age 4. United States citizenship 5. No felony convictions
This position is covered under the personnel system and is considered a merit system position. As a condition of continued employment, this position requires the employee to obtain Georgia P.O.S.T. certification as a law enforcement officer; and satisfactory completion of a 12 month probationary period. This position is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to random drug testing as per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.
Below are qualifications that may entitle you to salary above the annual entry rate (max of $2400):
- 2 years of active duty military service - $600
- 3 years of active duty military service - $900
- 4 years of active duty military service - $1,200
- Possess the Georgia Peace Officer Certification prior to employment - $1,200
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice Degree from an accredited college/technical school
or 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours - $1,200
- College Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college/university - $2,400
