Systems Analyst II - Database Administration

The purpose of this job is to perform systems and applications analysis, development, implementation, support, and maintenance activities. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analyzing automation needs county-wide; designing, modifying, and converting systems; configuring, assessing, and managing hardware and software usage; and training operators and users.
Qualified applicants should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
¨ Extensive knowledge of and experience in SQL servers;
¨ Ability to assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners;
¨ Ability to work with staff to upgrade database architectures, standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures;
¨ Ability to create models for new database development and/or changes to existing ones and perform database management;
¨ Ability to monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures, SQL queries, and execution times, and implement efficiency improvements as they are identified using data processing techniques, entity relationships, or the Unified Modeling Language (UML);
¨ Excellent communication, writing, organizational, human relations, technical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills; and an
¨ Ability to plan and coordinate data migrations between systems.
Bachelor's degree in computer science/information management, information systems or a related field with two years of experience in one or more of the following areas in a multi-user environment required: AS400 operating system, RPG, CL, Query, Sequel, Microsoft SQL, DB2, networks, networking hardware, and/or object oriented programming languages; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
