The purpose of this job is to develop and administer the volunteer management program for the Natural Resources division. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assessing volunteer staffing needs, developing training programs, evaluating programs, completing volunteer performance evaluations, budgeting, preparing annual reports, maintaining records, public relations, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualified applicants should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
· Knowledge of the principles and practices of volunteer programs and management; including relevant laws, ordinances, policies and procedures;
· Ability to work in a natural resource setting and knowledge of native plant and animal species;
· Knowledge of and ability to handle a wide variety of native reptiles (including venomous snakes), amphibians, and marine and freshwater fish;
· Skill in graphic layout, desktop publishing, various computer software, and hand and power tools as related to this position;
· Ability to effectively communicate and interact with volunteers, management, employees, and the public; and
· Knowledge of park operations.
High school diploma with one year of experience in a volunteer and/or non-profit environment required, Bachelor's degree in a course of study related to occupational field preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Supervisory experience is preferred. Must possess a valid driver's license.
