The purpose of this job is to compile and disseminate statistical data relevant to crime, crime patterns and crime trends. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing crime analysis using analytical tools to track crime incidents and to identify crime and crime trends; conducting research, compiling reports, charts and graphs, maintaining, updating statistical records for documentation of criminal cases and performing additional tasks as assigned.

 

Qualified applicants should posses the following knowledge, skills, and abilities;

Ø Knowledge of National Crime Information Center and the Georgia Crime Information Center rules and regulations;

Ø Ability to organize and disseminate statistical data (preferably in a law enforcement environment);

Ø Ability to effectively communicate and interact with management, employees, members of the public, and all other groups as they relate to the Police Department;

Ø Ability to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a clear concise, and effective manner;

Ø Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply regulations, procedures, and related information in a law enforcement environment;

Ø Skill in mathematics and statistics and use of computers and software related to crime reporting, crime patterns and trends using a general purpose reporting tool such as Crystal Reports software.

 

Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field with one year experience in data analysis, research methods, statistics, or related field (preferably in a law enforcement environment) required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.  Knowledge of and experience in using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and general purpose reporting tools such as Crystal Reports software preferred.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  See job description for further details.

 

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends
