The purpose of this job is to perform repairs and maintenance on Transit Department vehicles. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analyzing mechanical problems, assigning vehicles to meet scheduled maintenance requirements, and performing additional tasks as assigned.
Qualified applicants must possess the following:
- Vocational degree;
- Three years of diesel engine maintenance and repair or related experience;
- Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
- A valid driver's license.
- A valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License or have the ability to obtain within 6 months of the date of hire.
- A.S.E and Type II high pressure air conditioning certifications or have the ability to obtain within 12 months of the date of hire.
This position is a safety sensitive position; therefore, it will be included in the random drug testing as referred to in the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance.
This merit system position requires that the employee satisfactorily complete a probationary period.
